First Lebanese potatoes arrive in the Netherlands

On Wednesday, 11 July, the first Lebanese potatoes were handed over in the Netherlands. It happened at the potato restaurant, ''de jongens van Zand & Klei'', in the town of Breda. These potatoes were planted, cultivated, and harvested in the Lebanese district of Akkar. This agricultural area is in the north of the country, close to the Syrian border. The project was co-financed by the Dutch Government in order to create new sales opportunities.

The Netherlands remains involved in Lebanon's efforts to maintain stability and to improve that country's socio-economic perspective. HZPC Holland B.V. and Jansen Dongen, a potato wholesaler from the Dutch town of Tilburg, have managed to create a new export possibility. They have also ensured that the first potatoes from Lebanon have been exported to the Netherlands.
