Police called in for rotten 'stink fruit'

In Oppenau on Friday morning, police and firefighters were called, as in a post office several employees and a customer had respiratory problems because of an unknown gas.

On-site experts of the ABC squad of the Oppenau Fire Brigade investigated the reason for the mixture in the air. After several packages had been examined, the firemen could determine the origin of the smell. In one of the parcels there was a shipment of exotic fruits, already rotting. The fruits were durian fruit, common in Southeast Asia, where they are also known as ‘stink fruit’. The spoiled fruits were disposed of.
