Third session of China Dragon Fruit Industry Development Conference convened

The Nanfang Daily Office, Nanning City Agricultural Committee, and ncw365.com sponsored the third session of the China Dragon Fruit Industry Development Conference and the simultaneous Nanning Dragon Fruit Brand Promotion, which were organized by Nanning Dragon Fruit Marketing Alliance and Long'an County Bureau of Agriculture in Nanning on July 12th, 2018.

The conference committee invited dragon fruit experts from China and abroad, as well as experts on relevant technology, and other relevant people from the industry. Strategic issues such as new types of plantation methods, production period adjustments, fruit preservation after harvest, brand creation, and market expansion were discussed during the event. This conference also encouraged the qualitative improvement of the dragon fruit industry. More than 500 dragon fruit plantation owners, fruit association representatives, fruit and vegetable distributors and traders, and representatives from enterprises specialized in agricultural technology participated in this conference. Together they discussed development strategies for the dragon fruit industry.

Zeng Tao, vice-dean of Guangxi Agricultural Science and Technology University, expressed in her speech that is the fifth-most important fruit in the Southeast Asian tropical fruit forest, behind lychee, longan, banana, and mango. The surface area devoted to dragon fruit plantation in Guangxi reached 1,133 hectares in 2016 and increased to 15,266 hectares in 2017. Guangxi is responsible for roughly 40% of China's dragon fruit production, which makes it the largest dragon fruit production area.
