Switzerland: market situation berries KW28

Soft fruit market is running satisfactory, with increasing volumes

The harvested strawberry volume was 189.1 tons last week, below the weekly forecast of 203.8 tons. For week 28, the overall Swiss forecast is 140.6 tons.

The previous harvest amount corresponds to 69% of the delivered harvest quantity of last year. Unfortunately, this lapse will not be compensated until the end of the strawberry season. The 2017 harvest is therefore definitely to be called a small one. However, we will still have small quantities of Swiss strawberries available until autumn. For calendar week 28, we are expecting 25 to 30 tons per day. In order to meet the needs of the market, imported goods are also used.

Market situation
Regarding shrub berries, the market as a whole is satisfactory to the producers, with quantities increasing. The full supply of the Swiss raspberry market is almost guaranteed, but with blackberries, imported goods are needed to supplement it. The shrub berries are really very attractive and of excellent quality.
