First round courgettes auctioned in Venlo, the Netherlands

Yesterday, the first round courgettes were auctioned by ZON in Venlo, the Netherlands. These round courgettes were grown by grower Sjraar Hoeijmakers from Horst, and will be sold by ZON’s auction three times per week. They are supplied in 24 courgettes per pooled bin, two of which are yellow and two of which are white round courgettes.

Round courgettes have the same colour and flavour as regular, long courgettes, but because of their unusual shape, they can be used in kitchens differently. For example, grilled discs of round courgette look very decorative on a summer dining room table.
