Italy should use the Netherlands as a model
The Italian system, consisting of small and large companies, should take a look at the Dutch model. The Dutch are masters in the field of logistics. The presence of two large ports means the Dutch can get maximum returns.
“Nowadays it’s challenging for wholesaler’s markets to market themselves well, and I think this is only possible in one way: they have to organise to reach new markets.” Renzo Piraccini, manager of MacFrut said this during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of wholesaler’s market Padova (MAAP).
Fabio Massimo Pallottini, manager of Italmercati, also spoke during this event: “We’re very happy the MAAP is now part of our large family. The mutual competences will allow our entire system to grow. It’s necessary to know how to approach the European markets, and people have to understand that investing in structures of the public market is a benefit to all consumers.”
Valentina Di Pasa, manager of Fedagro Mercati, added that Fedagro joining MAAP is of much added value. “On the way to European integration and growth, we can walk this road together with Italmercati.”
Luca Lanini, professor at the Catholic University of Piacenza, talked about logistics: “A market has a major responsibility, it’s a window to consumers who demand quality. But wholesalers have to know how to look and think beyond that on the markets of the East. It isn’t impossible to realise, but we need a total digitisation of the supply chain for traceability and to exchange knowledge between companies.”
