Pop-up Pea Café will be highlight of Great British Pea Week

The Yes Peas! Campaign has announced its plans for this year’s Great British Pea Week, which runs from July 9th-15th. The campaign is run by British Growers in conjunction with Hatch PR, and funded by growers, freezers and machinery companies from the vining pea sector. The highlight of the week will be a pop-up Pea Café named the Pea Place which will run for one day only at the Canvas Café in Hanbury Street in London.

As well as pea-themed decorations, visitors will have the chance to see live streamed video of the pea harvest, and sample pea-based delicacies such as Pea and Mint Ice Cream cooked up by celebrity chef Rachel Green, who is an ambassador for the Yes Peas! Campaign. Growers will also be on hand to share their passion for peas, answer questions and encourage the nation to put more peas on the menu.

Peas will also be taking to the streets on a three-wheeled Pea-dal Power tricycle to raise awareness of the humble pea. Ridden by an eye-catching life size pea pod, who will also be handing out information, the bike will be visiting locations in London on 11th July.

The week is now in its third year and is part of Yes Peas!, a consumer awareness campaign that aims to promote the benefits of frozen peas. The week will also involve a variety of media relations and social media activity using recipes from the Young Pea Chef 2018, statistics on the industry, interviews with growers and processors, and offering the opportunity for field visits.
