“This first export was a trial shipment for a large grocery chain in Iceland. The first export contained 23kg, which means about 50 pieces of fruit. However, we hope to start a regular export route. One of our top fruit exporters had direct contact with potential clients in Iceland, and asked us to help them with all logistics necessary to make this export to Rekjavik happen”, states María Inés Dominguez from Logiztik Alliance, Marketing & Communication, Logiztik Alliance in Ecuador.
She explains that they are all very excited to expand the export destinations. “We were happy to find a route to Keflavik Airport with Iberia and Iceland air with a transit time of 4 days. This is still not the best option, but it’s more than fast enough for pitahaya. The fruit has just arrived, so there is no news yet whether it will be just this export or if it will become regular exports.”“We are still in the early stages of finding out about the fruit demand in Iceland, but I’m sure we will find out soon. We have the highest quality fruit being produced in Ecuador, for which we can make sure all our clients and exporters have their logistics and transport needs completely fulfilled”, concludes María.
