World Cup Special: SPAIN

"There is a great buzz for the World Cup in Spain. However, I am the only Spanish person in the company and all my colleagues are from Mexico, but we have a healthy rivalry. As for changes in daily trade in the European market, we haven't noticed anything. The market grows over the years, but we haven't seen any peak in sales, as it happens, for example, in the United States during events like the Super Bowl," explains Pablo Méndez López, commercial manager for Europe of the company Productos Agrícolas Oseguera in Spain.

He adds that it is difficult to predict who the winner will be. "I think it will be a European country, and I hope it will be Spain for the second time. If not Spain, I would like Mexico to be the surprise winner of the World Cup, for the joy of my colleagues."

Cultifort
That football is very much alive is shown by this company, which allowed five people to be present in the first game between Spain and Portugal in Russia. We already know the result of that match.

Cultifort is a company from Pego, in Valencia, which has been devoted to vegetable nutrition for more than 35 years.

Due to a promotion of its flagship product, Microvital - L, which has already been in the market for 30 years, they organised a draw for its distributors, and 5 lucky ones won a 3-day trip to see the first game of the Spanish team in the 2018 World Cup, which took place last Friday, 15 June, in Sochi, Russia.

"From the stands, in a position very close to the field, we Cultifort members were in a privileged place to support our team. We saw a spectacular Diego Costa scoring two goals, and Nacho Fernández Iglesias scoring the last goal," says Ana Sendra, of Cultifort.

"It was a unique experience that we'll never forget. We enjoyed the Hospitality Lounge with unlimited drinks and food during the 3 hours prior to the game, where we met many Spaniards who had also travelled to the place to cheer for the team," said Ana Sendra. "At the Hotel Bogatyr, where we stayed, we also saw many important personalities from the Spanish sports world, such as Manu Carreño, Kiko, Manolo 'el del bombo', Matías Prats, etc."

Still excited by this great experience, we want to thank all our customers who have made the promotion "Microvital - L takes you to the World Cup" possible, and all the distributors that accompanied us on this trip!

The Valencian company has over 35 years' experience in the manufacture and marketing of natural solutions for plant nutrition. Also, Cultifort is a breeder of a patented early clementine variety which shares the company's name.

Ana believes that Spain has every chance to win the World Cup and sends a clear message: "Come on, Spain! Come on, Microvital - L! Come on, Cultifort!"

Meridiem Seeds
Other companies also had similar ideas. For instance, Meridiem Seeds, from Spain, which organised a raffle among those buying their seeds before 31 May. "Meridiem Seeds and Alvarado take you to the World Cup in Russia to see Spain play against Portugal. Buy your seeds before 31 May to enter the raffle," they announced.

The names of the lucky winners who would travel to Russia were announced on Twitter.

Grupo Lamarca
"Right now, we are active in social media with the 2018 Football World Cup in Russia because we believe it is an important international sporting event. We thought it would be convenient to carry out promotions for all the games and thus retain our customers and attract new ones," explains Jaime Pérez Alfonso, director of Lamarca 3.0.

For each game, Grupo Lamarca publishes an advertisement on social media
The director explains that, for now, they have been attracting many people to restaurants. "So far, the place has usually been full at noon (1 pm-4 pm) and in the evening (7 pm-11 pm) it's usually half full. People from different countries come to our place, including Morocco, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Colombia or Romania, among others."

"Food is served in our restaurant, and attracting customers results in both fruits and vegetables being consumed," explains Jaime when asked whether this type of promotions have an impact on the purchase and sale of fruit and vegetables from Grupo Lamarca.

Spain was the winner of the World Cup in 2010. This year, the first game against Portugal was tied, although the Spanish team won the second match against Iran. This made the last match on 25 June very exciting, because the two games of Group B were played at the same time. Good luck, Spain!
