Ukraine: Frozen raspberry exports grow by 45%

"Exports of frozen raspberry produced in Ukraine increased by 45% during the first four months of 2018 over the same period last year. The country exported 3.7 thousand tons of products during the first four months of the year, achieving a new record for this period. In 2017, during the same period, exports amounted to 2.5 thousand tons, and in 2016 to a little less than 1 thousand tons," stated analysts from EaUstFruit.

The main market for Ukraine's frozen raspberries is Poland, as the country exported 1,300 tons to this destination, i.e. 26% more than in 2017. However, the Czech Republic, which was the second biggest importer of Ukrainian raspberry in 2018, had the biggest growth rate during this period. Raspberry exports from Ukraine to the Czech Republic increased by five during this period, when compared to the same period of last year, and reached 0.8 thousand tons.

Ukrainian frozen raspberry exports to Lithuania also increased by five, amounting to almost 300 tons and exports to France increased by 2.3 times, amounting to 280 tons of products.

In general, Ukraine exported 15,700 tons of raspberry in 2017, i.e. 31% more than in the previous year. Fresh raspberry exports amounted to 1.2 thousand tons, accounting for 8% of exports, which is a new record in Ukrainian history.

The main buyers of the Ukrainian raspberry in the current season were Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, and France. Exports to all countries, except Germany, increased significantly. Germany bought 40% less raspberry from Ukraine in the current season than last year.

In addition, Ukraine made its first deliveries of large quantities of raspberry to Great Britain and Mexico.
