Great Giant Food plans to export pineapples to China

After successful transport of bananas to China, Great Giant Food is now exploring pineapple exports to China. Three subsidiary companies, Great Giant Pineapple, Nusantara Tropical Farm, and Sewu Segar Nusantara, all increased their retail volume this year.

Michael Gultom, fresh fruit manager at Great Giant Food, stated that the fruit production volume increased this year. He verified that the banana production volume increased by 6% to 1.7 million boxes (each box weighs between 13-13.5 kg); the pineapple production volume increased by 57% to 430 thousand boxes; and the Jambu Kristal production volume increased to 1250 tons.

Gultom further stated that countries all over the world have shown increased interest in tropical fruit from Indonesia. Great Giant Food promotes their fruit production volume in countries where the demand for fruit increased, e.g. the Middle East, China, and Japan. Great Giant Food is exploring opportunities for pineapple export to China to keep the demand for fruit growing.
