Henan Wanbang market: Lots of carrots but low prices

Last week, the price of carrots on the Wanbang Market fell alarmingly. This was mainly due to an increase in the cultivation area which has led to higher production volumes. Most of the carrots come from Shandong and Xiamen and the daily market volume is around 300 tons. With supply exceeding demand, prices were bound to decrease.

There was also a high pressure of competition. As the temperatures rose, many local seasonal vegetables entered the market too. For example, vegetables like cucumber, tomato, eggplant also take up a high percentage in the market, which influenced the sales of carrot to some extent.
