Mexican blueberries won't be affected by tariffs imposed by the US

Following the news published about the tariffs that the Government of the United States has imposed on Mexican cranberries, the National Association of Exporters of Berries (Aneberries) wished to clarify that blueberries (under tariff item 08104001) will not be affected, since such tariffs will only apply to processed red cranberries.

Aneberries said in a press release that following the decision of the Secretariat of Economy to impose equivalent measures on various US products, "the products that will be subject to the tariff measures announced by the Government of Mexico are those of the 20089301 fraction, which includes cranberries and processed and preserved products, including those with added sugar, sweeteners or alcohol."

Therefore, imports into Mexico of fresh blueberries will not be affected by the tariffs imposed by the Mexican government. "The members of Aneberries have also wished to confirm their commitment to keeping the industry strong, safeguarding the interests of all links in the productive chain." For their part, the exporters of berries from Mexico are confident that "the NAFTA renegotiations will continue and a good agreement will be reached for the three partnered countries."
