Sustainability, storytelling and differentiation

European tomato industry of the future discussed

Tomatoes are one of the most important horticultural products for both Germany and Europe. At the European Tomato Forum, organized last week in Germany, the industry discussed the growing competition in the market.

In the current tomato industry the growth of the snacking segment is an important topic, as well as the importance of origin. The importance of differentiation can be seen further in the value chain as well: marketing and storytelling are relatively new topics taking shape in the value chain of tomatoes, especially since consumers are more and more interested in the origin of their food.

These topics were discussed broadly in Germany, where the tomato forum was organized for the second time by AMI and Fruchthandel Magazine. Traditionally, as with the Obst & Gemüse Kongress, the event started with a gemütliche abend where the industry joined for a more relaxed meeting, without the ties and the suits.

We will bring you the complete story tomorrow, but for now offer you the photos of the European tomato industry.
