Freshbot

App aims to provide industry with real time pricing

As they say, 'knowledge is power' and Maxim Kulik is busy developing a new service called Freshbot, to give extra 'power' to retailers, wholesalers and growers by providing them with real time information about pricing.

"The groundwork has been laid down and I have accumulated 1,000 sources to monitor the prices of 25 main products, such as apples, pears and oranges etc. Once established, we will implement the prices for an additional 200+ products," shared Kulik.

The app is now available in Ukraine and is expected to be implemented in a few key European countries in August. After that, Maxim said that they plan on making it available globally in Itunes and GooglePlay.

"We will start by offering real time prices in the first phase. After that, we plan to provide statistics, a databases of service agencies, drafts of retailer’s contracts, and other useful resources for fresh produce players so they are able to ´arm themselves´with important market information when doing business," continued Kulik.

Almost 70% of the information we gather is also available online around the world, with the remaining 30% coming from our contacts, from direct growers and wholesalers. The advantage is that it would take hours for someone to gather this information themselves and the prices are constantly changing.

Three types of pricing will be available for each product, the first price level for monitoring of wholesale and retailers prices, the second includes more pricing from growers and the third is a combination of both with additional statistics from previous periods and with hyperlink with the all sources of that price.

"I have worked as a consultant for many companies and not knowing the correct prices can cause a company to lose large amounts of money daily. As an apple producer, I want to know what my competitors are getting for their goods so I know what I need to ask."
