Some of the new potatoes in the market will be sent for retail. Most of them will be stored in the refrigeration house. Since potatoes are easy to store and can be sold till next spring, the price of the stored potatoes is likely to rise, especially in winter.
Currently, the potatoes that are sold in the market are mainly of two kinds: one kind is the stored potatoes from last winter, the other is the new potatoes. After spring, the stored potatoes are difficult to sell. Many merchants decide to send them to the starch factory due to the low price. Earlier, the number of stored potatoes decreased in the market so some merchants sent the big potatoes with good appearance back to the market.
Chilly weather occurred twice in April, and the price of potatoes, in the early stage, had risen. The price has reduced on the basis of season. More and more vegetables can act as alternatives to potatoes, therefore, the demand has reduced. Besides, since open-field potatoes have entered the market, the supply is quite sufficient. In the future, the price of potatoes will probably keep decreasing.
