Egyptian ARRA™ Open Field Day

Earlier this month the 2018 ARRA field day, hosted by NFC, ARRA varieties agent in Egypt, was held at Technogreen's El Katta Farm. The field day was organized and coordinated by NFC's Ali Shahata, ARRA coordinator in Egypt and ARRA agronomist, Osama El Shazly.

We make a great team; AVI and European delegation, Jupiter, Technogreen and Grapa.

AVI, the exclusive ARRA agent in Europe, brought over a delegation of European growers to Egypt especially to attend the field day. The participants were mainly interested in the early varieties and during the field day, all the participants were able to view the ARRA 29 and ARRA 30 varieties and an ARRA early black variety on the vines.

ARRA early black variety; Most of the Egyptian growers have learned and improved their production of this early variety, the earliest commercial black seedless variety that exists in the ARRA portfolio. This variety usually ripens at Early Sweet timing and the 90% blackish color, together with the variety’s additional advantages, make it a profitable and promising selection for the Egyptian growers.

ARRA 29; This is the third year of ARRA 29 exportation in Technogreen farms and the first year of production for many other Egyptian growers and in all farms, the color, size and grape quality was superb. The Egyptian growers each adapted the protocol according to his region and micro climate conditions, however, all of the ARRA 29 exported from Egypt this season looks alike and both Grapa and the growers have high expectations for the future of this variety.

ARRA 30; The Italian growers, with their eagerness to replace the early ripening Vitoria seeded variety, which is an early elongated berry, found the ARRA 30 to be the best replacement for the future.

The variety’s early ripening, crunchiness, and ability to grow to a yellowish color with high sugar content is the main interest of the Italians. The Egyptian growers also found ARRA 30 interesting as it ripens just after the Early Sweet and is a replacement for other well-known varieties ripening at the same time.

Grapa and AVI teams would like to thank NFC, with a personal thanks to Mr. Magdy Mansour, Technogreen's owner, for the warm welcome and generous hospitality in hosting the Open Field Day on their farm. In addition, we would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to Ali, Fayez Dowidar and Osama who, although the field day took place during Ramadan, did their utmost to support this important event.
