Italy: Peach and nectarine campaign started at Gruppo Mazzoni

The new peach and nectarine campaign has started at Gruppo Mazzoni. As usual, the produce is entirely Italian, certified and of high-quality.

Over ten years ago, the production area extended to include Emilia-Romagna and Calabria and especially the Sibari Plain, one of the leading peach producer areas in Italy.

"Our group strongly believes in the production potential of the Sibari plain. Despite the difficulties that characterise the stone fruit sector, we're seeing that the international and domestic market recognise the added value of our productions. Demand is growing thanks to the exceptional organoleptic quality and level of the services provided," explains sales manager Sergio Trevisan.

Our partnership with the Torre di Mezzo PO is stronger than ever. "We have been working with Gruppo Mazzoni for years. We are a point of reference to gather high-quality productions. Volumes are constantly increasing and feedback from clients testifies we're on the right path. This is why we keep on investing and renovating our assets with high-quality early varieties," continues OP Torre di Mezzo President Gian Michele Caligiuri.

"This year, the peach campaign in the Sibari plain started slightly earlier than last year, and production seem well-distributed throughout the calendar. Quality is very good: grades, colour and Brix level are higher than last season. As for the medium-late product, it's still early to make a forecast, although plants look vigorous and quantities seem to be 20% lower than last year. This in turn means grades should be larger," adds Trevisan.

"We continue investing in orchards, packaging structures and human resources to guarantee high quality and good services. We'll soon be able to expand our range to include Saturn and white peaches. What is more, the citrus fruit campaign should evolve positively in terms of both volumes and quality," concludes administrator Luigi Mazzoni.

Gruppo Mazzoni is located in the Ferrara province and is constantly focused on varietal research, nursery gardening, production, packaging and the commercialisation of fresh, organic and frozen produce.
