Swiss apple stocks to be exhausted by mid-July
Apple shortages are gradually emptying. At the end of May 2018, just 3,100 tons were still in stock. In the same month last year, it was 14,500 tons. The reason for the much smaller inventory this year are the frosty nights of last year, which made the 2017 harvest poor.
Currently, there are only Golden Delicious and premium varieties left. The remaining Golden Delicious will be available until mid-July and the premium varieties are estimated to be available until the middle/end of June, according to Swisscofel and the Swiss Fruit Association.
