Wind speeds of level 8 on Beaufort scale

Class 4 tropical storm Ewiniar lands in Hainan

China's National Meteorological Center predicted that the center of class 4 typhoon Ewiniar (tropical storm) would reach Haikou City in Hainan around 14:50 on June 6th, 2018. The wind speeds near the center reached level 8 on the Beaufort scale (18 meters per second) with atmospheric pressure of 995 hPa. Ewiniar was expected to continue in the direction of Leizhou Peninsula, then turn and gradually start moving northeast on June 7th. The north of Hainan and large parts of Guangdong suffered from torrential rain as a result. The National Meteorological Center maintained a typhoon warning blue and torrential rain warning yellow.
