4 Ways Fresh Produce says the volume of eggplant this season has been similar to the last couple of years, and although not one of the company's big volume crops, it has been steady right through the year.
The company has three farms in the Virginia area totalling about 30 hectares with the packing shed being situated on one of the farms. There is also a 55 hectare property at Geraldton in Western Australia which grows predominantly Continental Cucumbers during the South Australian winter months.
"Growing conditions have been good in 2017/18 with average yields across the board being experienced," Mr Songer said. "The fruit in general has been of very good quality. Volumes for this time of the year are still good, with some very good eggplant coming into the shed from growers in the Virginia area."
"We have at this stage all the produce grown in WA is freighted back to Virginia for processing and distributing to our customers," he said. "Our main lines are Continental & Lebanese cucumber, Capsicum, Zucchini, Tomato and of course eggplant. Growing conditions in both Virginia & Geraldton are near perfect during the growing seasons for each region."
