The "2018 Thailand Magical Durian Fruit Festival" was held on May 18th on the square near the Bangkok Shangtai World Center. All the street directions have been translated into Chinese in order to attract tourists from China. The event, organized by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Central Group, was divided into two sections: an area for free testing of the tropical fruits and related products and an exhibition and sales area. The festival lasted from May 18th to 23rd.
The exhibition sector included farmers from 50 prefectures of Thailand. They've presented the products such as durian, mango, rambutan, other tropical fruits and related products, such as durian pizza. Minister of Commerce Mr. Sontirat said at the opening ceremony, that the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand is working hard to turn Thailand into a "tropical fruit country" in the global market. Recently, the Ministry has cooperated with e-commerce companies in China to export Thai fruits to the huge Chinese market.
