"The first varieties to be harvested are Black Magic and Victoria. Bunches are well formed thanks to a precise millerandage carried out by expert hands."
"Our staff is trained for years to learn this delicate operation and to implement our production techniques in compliance with strict production protocols."
The initial Brix level is expected to be around 14, but it should reach 16 or even 17 during the first week of June. Yields are 15% more than last year, meaning setting was excellent and unaffected by diseases or the weather."
Interview with President Gianni Raniolo
"Retailers have shown their interest and increased their demand for branded produce this year."
In 2018, the consortium started exporting grapes to the Arab Emirates and Canada by air. Both markets go from stored grapes from extra-European countries to the prestigious Mazzarrone grapes.
Traditional destination markets are France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland (65%, 15% more in 2018). They will be the first to be supplied, followed by northern and eastern Europe (25%, 10% more in 2018). The remaining quantities will be exported outside of the EU.
"As there are lower quantities available from India, South Africa and Chile, we are waiting for prices for the local productions to line up more precisely. They are currently 10% higher than last year."
"The Pgi mark continues to bear its fruits, as it's a way to promote our grapes and our land all over the world. It represents an added value that means we can invest resources in R&D and promotional activities."
