Cainiao has signed an agreement with the Office for Economic Transport in the east of Thailand and the Thai Customs Office. Cainiao will construct large-scale, automated distribution centers in Thailand to facilitate the swift and convenient export of agricultural products. The first installation covers an area of 120 thousand square meters. That project is expected to break ground within this year, and expected to begin operations in 2019.
Thailand is currently the largest fruit importer on TMall. About 80% of that import consists of durian. The daily import volume during peak season can reach 500 shipping containers. TMall currently offers specials for Monthong durian. They sold more than 80 thousand durian in less than a minute.
