"These are our salad days”"

Rhineland outdoor lettuce harvest started

Consumers can now look forward to salads because, in the Rhineland, the lettuce harvest has started in the fields. This was stated by the provincial association Rheinischer Obst-und Gemüsebauer in Bonn.

Lettuce, ice lettuce, Lollo Rosso, Lollo Bionda, Raisa, Kraussalat and Romanasalat are now being harvested again, coming fresh from Rhenish fields. Consumers can therefore look forward to low-calorie and crunchy enjoyment. Especially, given the current temperatures, a fresh salad offers a light and filling meal.

Altogether, some 1,400 ha of lettuce is cultivated in the Rhineland.
