The NMB boosts the quality of Mexican mango

The managers of the National Mango Board, based in Orlando, Florida, will hold a meeting with producers and exporters of mangoes from northern Sinaloa and offer them a series of lectures and a field visit with researchers of this fruit, in order to continue improving the quality and safety of Mexican mango entering the United States.

The activities of this meeting will begin on May 30, 2018, in the auditorium of the Association of Farmers of the Rio Fuerte Sur, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, at 8:30 am, after registration. On May 31, 2018, they will conduct a field visit to mango orchards of the region.

Carla Sosa, the Manager of Relations with the Industry of the NMB, confirmed that this meeting will be attended by Dr. Manuel Michel, the Executive Director of this American organization, who will be accompanied by Mr. Daniel Ibarra Lugo, the President of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Mango from the area that is free of fruit flies.

The invitation is open to producers in Sinaloa and neighboring Mexican states. Admission is completely free, however it is necessary to register in advance, since the quota is limited.

Free Tools
Mango producers and exporters can find a wealth of information, research, statistics, and training on mango quality and food safety, completely free, on the NATIONAL MANGO BOARD website (www.mango.org or www.mangofoodsafety.org). Some of these tools are:

The best mango research bank
In its website, the NMB has the best information bank specialized in mangoes, with the most recent research reports made by the most prestigious universities, public and private organizations, and consultants from the United States and Latin America.

Safety training kit
It also offers the best training kit in Spanish on safety in the mango industry. The information to carry out in three areas, orchards, packing houses and importing warehouses, is written in a simple and clear way.

Training for new employees
The right way to start the food safety race is to train all new employees. To do this, the website has a guideline of basic activities to help prevent the contamination of mangoes in orchards.

Cell phone apps
They also have apps for phones and tablets, available from Apple and Android, that have all the safety training.

New data and graphics
In addition, they have a new easy to use interactive app with data, graphics, projections, mango exports and arrivals to the United States market, from 2010 to date, by country and from all countries.
