Registration for Prognosfruit is open

This year, the Prognosfruit Conference will take place in Warsaw, Poland from 8-10 August 2018, with the local support of the Association of Polish Fruit Growers (ZSRP). As of today, the registrations for the 2018 edition of Prognosfruit are open! The Prognosfruit Conference is Europe’s leading annual event for the apple and pear sector, gathering up to 250 apple and pear growers from across Europe. Since 1976, Prognosfruit releases annually the forecast of the apple and pear production for the upcoming season. Information and registration are now posted on the conference website: www.prognosfruit.eu

Prognosfruit 2018 will be the XLIII edition of the conference. Fourteen years ago, the conference took place in Lublin, and, as it returns to Poland, this year‘s conference will take place from 8 to 10 August in Warsaw. Mirosław Maliszewski, the President of ZSRP, states: “We are very pleased to host the Prognosfruit conference for the second time in Poland, and the first time in Warsaw. We hope that producers, technicians, managers and associates will enjoy the conference, technical visits and networking opportunity. We are looking forward to welcoming the apple and pear leaders from Europe. Join Prognosfruit 2018 to discover our city, our heritage and also to learn more about the apple giant of Europe!”

The World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA) will release the apple and pear production forecast for 2018/2019 during the business conference on Thursday 9 August. The conference will also review some of the latest topical issues relevant for the apple and pear industry. More than ever before, the release of the 2018 forecast will be a much awaited event. After the low crop of 2017, the outlook for 2018 will be key for the apple and pear sector. Besides market trends and the outlook for the fresh and processed sector, several other topics will be discussed, such as the developments of international trade and the latest findings on apple and pear’s research and innovation.

The conference brings together apple and pear growers, processors and traders from across Europe and beyond with an attendance of around 250 participants. Also this year, the COPA-COGECA working group on fruit and vegetables will be present via its chair, Philippe Appeltans from VBT in Belgium. He stated: “As COPA and COGECA, we are very pleased to be continuously involved in the organisation of Prognosfruit, as it is an essential conference for the apple and pear sector in Europe and beyond”.

Philippe Binard, Secretary General of WAPA, confirmed: “Prognosfruit is a well-established event on the agenda of the European apple and pear production. Given the particular production conditions in recent years, much has to be learned from a Prognosfruit taking place in the leading European apple producing country. We are looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and of course to make new acquaintances in Warsaw. The registration is open, so please, sign up and join us!”

An event not to be missed! Join today with the 250 apple and pear leaders by registering online on www.prognosfruit.eu.

Registration is now open and an early booking fee is available for registration before 15 June.
