France: 75% decrease in plum production in Tarn-et-Garonne

Due to bad weather conditions over the winter, plum production in France's main producing region, the Tarn-et-Garonne, is expected to plummet by 75%. Harvest is expected to start, as always, in July, but will be lower than normal. High temperatures in January followed by frost in February stopped the sap flow and trees have lost fruit. Normally the Tarn-et-Garonne produces 25,000 tons of plums per year, but this year producers are already filing their agricultural disaster requests for compensation.
