Honduran melon is fruit of the month in Japan
The largest passenger railway company in the world, East Japan Railway
Company, is promoting, for the first time ever, the Honduran melon as the fruit of the month in May in Japan's Honey's Bar juice and liquefied stores.
The Honey's Bar stores are located in the main train stations of the railway network of JR East in the city of Tokyo, as well as in other cities in the central and eastern part of Japan.
The advertising of the Honduran melon, which is known in Japan as "Caribbean Sweet, highlights its refreshing qualities and flavor and invites Japanese consumers and tourists to enjoy drinks made with tropical fruit.
The exquisite Honduran fruit has managed to create an important niche in the Japanese market since May 2016. Japan is one of the most demanding markets in the world with more than 127 million consumers.
According to the foreign trade statistics of the Central Bank of Honduras, in 2017 melon exports amounted to 71.4 million dollars, opening a new segment of opportunities for Honduran agricultural producers.
