Netherlands
Courses and markets almost unchanged last week. For the industry, if average prices haven’t changed, varieties with a (very) long shelf life (such as Markies, Agria or Lady Anna) are slightly up at 6.50 - 9.50 for direct delivery, with transactions between 7.50 and 9.50 €/a for June - July delivery. On the other hand, the more basic varieties (Fontane, Innovator, Challenger) remain listed between 5.00 and 7.50 €/a, for immediate delivery. No price changes in export varieties: export quantities are maintained, with firm prices for friable quality, especially for Italy, Spain, and Portugal, on the basis of 9.00 - 12.00 €/, starting with big bag sizes. For the Eastern countries, prices remain around € 7.00/a.

Plantations have been stagnant for most of the past week; many coastal and southwestern regions received between 40 and 60 mm of rain the previous week-end, and are lagging behind (less than 50% on schedule, as of May 6). For the entire Netherlands, plantations were at 60-65% on May 6.

France
The industry experiences stable prices, and was even optimistic last week in varieties Fontane, Innovator, Markies, and Agria. On the other hand, everything remains difficult in Bintje. For Challenger, the demand remained present for batches which didn’t present any problems. supply (in various varieties) for delivery late June - early July remains in effect. The quality decreases in sheds, following the variations of t ° of the last weeks. The export continues to eastern countries, Spain, Italy, and even England, with optimistic prices as well, but for a more focused quality. The best friable batches are between 10.00 and 16.00 €/a, the basic quality remains between 7.00 and 8.00 €/a (Starting with big bag sizes. In the field, the plantations were well advanced in Champagne, Beauce, and Picardie. In the north/Pas-de-Calais, plantations were late in Flanders (where water stagnated locally between the hills during heavy rains on April 28). Normandy suffered the most precipitation (55 to 120 mm on April 28 and 29), with subsequently delayed plantings.

On the fresh market, producer prices are up slightly: on the 2nd of May, prices were estimated at 12.17 €/a (+ 2.9%) for firm pulp, and 11.58 €/a (+ 2.2%) for soft pulp. In potatoes for industry (fries), Fontane, Agria and Innovator courses have stabilized. In organic potatoes, producer prices are always around 48,00 €/a.

*you will have to deduct €1,00/a from these prices in their starting fields in the table above for sorting fees

Great Britain
Average producer price (all markets combined) week 17: € 11.37/a.
Firm markets due to planting delays, which will induce an extension of the current season. Less than 50% of the surface area was planted by the 1st of May, the overall delay being estimated at 3 - 4 weeks, compared to a "normal" year. For the industry, there are prices of 10.00 to 14.00 €/a in Maris Piper, up to 16.00 €/a in varieties of a better roast. For Fish & chips shops, prices go up to 22,00 to 28,00 €/a (to size, in bags) in Agria or Markies.

Stocks at the end of March were estimated at 1.3 million tons, 300,000 tons more than last year, and comparable to the 2014-2015 season. Year-to-date clearance is relatively high at 4.7 Mt, but it’s estimated that considerable amounts have been diverted to secondary markets (livestock, flakes) due to quality issues.
