BLE Market Report KW18/18

Importance of domestic and Belgian cauliflower has grown

The presence of French and especially Italian cauliflower batches became more limited and the importance of native and Belgian vegetables grew. The first Dutch lots appeared in Frankfurt. The business was uneven: While in Cologne and Berlin interest declined to coincide with the limited supply, customers were anxious to buy in many other places.

Price increases were not uncommon. In Hamburg, the distributors had stopped selling the burdening stocks so that new supplies could be sold at a higher price. In Munich, prices of French produce shot up. In Frankfurt, domestic products were not very significant, which should change from KW19 however, as many more shipments are expected.
