Wittenberg Gemüse GmbH is enjoying a successful start to the season

‘Sales of Luther paprikas satisfactory so far’

In the high-tech greenhouse of Wittenberg Gemüse GmbH

Wittenberg Gemüse GmbH has harvested and marketed the first 'Luther-Paprikas' of the season. After planting in January, on a 3 hectare greenhouse area, recently the first predominantly red pods were packed and delivered under their own label. The sales department of the producer and marketing company marked the quality up until now as 'satisfactory'.

The complex gets residual heat from neighboring nitrogen plants

By the end of the season in November, a total of 7,000 tonnes of vegetables from the Wittenberg greenhouses will be marketed. Around 2,000 tons of it are Luther's peppers in the colours red, yellow, green and orange. Even the so-called snack peppers are produced in the greenhouse. The other products of the GmbH are four high-quality tomato varieties: the 'Angelle', the 'Capricia', the cocktail tomato 'Brioso' and the premium tomato 'Lyterno'.

Dutch roots
Wittenberg Gemüse GmbH is a partnership between the Dutch Van Gog Kwekerijen and the German elite Frische Service GmbH. After the first contacts in 2009, the construction of the tomato greenhouse, which was completed in 2013, followed. Since the company was founded, the sales and distribution company has focused primarily on local supermarkets in Brandenburg and Central Germany. In addition to regional marketing, nature-friendly cultivation methods are very important: the greenhouses receive carbon dioxide and heat from the neighboring nitrogen plants via a pipeline. Potentially, Wittenberg has a total area of 45 hectares.
