Durian has become a good catch on the market

China: Fruit prices declined by around 15% this year

Recently, the temperature has risen and the fruit market has almost completed the switch of seasons. Fruits that were sold in winter and early spring, such as apples, grapefruits, mandarins and pears were all pulled from the shelves. Seasonal fruits such as durian, pineapple, cherry tomato have become the new favorites for Chinese consumers. Some fruit shops even organized a "durian party", which attracted many consumers.

Durians in the fruit shops

The prices on the fruit market, compared to those of previous years, has generally declined around 15%. For example, the selling price of Durian has fallen from the normal 40 RMB/Kilo to 24 RMB/Kilo. Most of Durians on the market are imported from Thailand. As the temperature rises it is now the harvest season of these Southeast-Asian fruits. The supply of durians increased, therefore, the prices dropped.

This year, there are more varieties of durian, compared to previous years. Besides the Golden Pillow Durian which is commonly seen, Musang King Durian also gradually entered the market.
