Danny Schrama:

"Warm weather and large asparagus supply bad for mushroom market"

It is an average mushroom market, according to Danny Schrama. He is from the mushroom trader of the same name. They are based in Ulestraten, in the Dutch province of Limburg. "Prices are at a stable level. The holidays, including those abroad, did not mean more or fewer sales. They did, however, make trading somewhat chaotic."

"There is a large supply of asparagus. This is putting a bit of pressure on the market. There are very few dishes that include both asparagus and mushrooms. Consumers then rather choose asparagus. Shiitake sales are lagging at the moment too. The warm weather is also not doing the mushrooms any favours. People prefer lighter meals when it is hot."
