China: Price of cucumbers and garlic shoots continues to fall

Data from Xinfadi Market shows that the wholesale price of cucumbers is currently between 0.9 and 1.3 yuan [0.14 and 0.2 USD] per 0.5 kg. This is a price decrease of 15.38% in comparison with last week. The price of garlic shoots decreased by 21.21% in comparison with last week. Liu Tong of Xinfadi Market Data Department stated that apart from greenhouse cucumbers from Lingyuan in Liaoning and Weifang in Shandong, the cucumbers from Langfang, Baoding, and Cangzhou in Hebei will begin to enter the market in large volumes in May and June. When the supply increases, it is natural for the price to go down.

The old garlic shoots in stock have almost been sold out. The majority of garlic shoots on the market are fresh. As the temperatures increase, so will fresh garlic shoot supply from Henan, and the price will continue to fall.
