Swiss wholesaler opens wholesale market space of approx. 15,000 sqm.
Transgourmet plans new expansion steps in Austria
Wholesaler Transgourmet, headquartered in Basel, is going onto the Austrian market. "We have expansion plans in Austria," said a spokeswoman to a Swiss business newspaper. In May, the Coop subsidiary intends to open a hypermarket with almost 15,000 square meters of space in Vorarlberg's Schwarzach, near the Swiss border.
Provided that the local building authorities approve things. Why is this a factor? Parts of the almost finished new building are touching the protective strips of a high voltage power line. "At the next building inspection on May 8, a final vote will take place," says the spokeswoman. "The final decision will of course rest with the authorities." Transgourmet expects to be able to open on May 17.
More locations Furthermore, the wholesaler is looking for additional locations in the neighboring country. "Once potential locations are fixed, we'll announce them," says a spokeswoman. In 2016, Transgourmet already took over the wholesale division C+C Pfeiffer from the Austrian Pfeiffer Group.
