Authorities inaugurate a port that connects China and Russia

A new international port linking northeastern China and Russia was inaugurated today, announced the maritime safety administration of Heilongjiang province, in the northeast of the country.

The port is located in the city of Fuyuan in Heilongjiang. The terminal will be used to export vegetables, fruits, agricultural products, and engineering machinery from China to Russia, and to import wood, soy, and flour from Russia to China.

A water route between Fuyuan and Khabarovsk was opened on the same day, the administration said. The route will operate for 180 days and 20 times a day to transport about 1,000 tourists daily.

The new port and the water route will promote more cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries.
