Optical onion sorting machine -TOP Onions demonstration for onion companies

Last week JDC demonstrated the optical onion sorting line at TOP Onions in 's-Gravenpolder. This demonstration was visited by ten Dutch and three foreign onion companies.

The visitors could see that the Elisam sorter with eight lines was 70-80% filled with onions.

JDC always shows the practical situation during demos with the available onion batches per period. Although some parties showed that the season was progressing, the optical sorting technology sorted out the lesser quality onions effectively.

By cutting the onions in two, the potential users were able to control the effect sorting of onions with internal defects.

A higher efficiency can be reached with this optical sorting technique, whilst keeping labour costs low, and improving the quality of the onions for the final customer.

There are now 14 users of the JDC Ellips-Elisam sorting line active globally in the onion sector.
