Nepal: Vandals arrested for ravaging banana farm

Nepalese police have detained three individuals, accused of destroying banana plants belonging to several farmers in the Kalika municipality of eastern Chitwan.

According to Chitwan's Superintendent of Police Deepak Thapa, the three suspects were arrested on Wednesday. The mastermind behind the destruction of the banana farms is reportedly still at large. The police have not disclosed the vandals' identities.

According to myrepublica.com, a preliminary investigation has shown that the suspects were intoxicated at the time they decided to ravage the banana farm. The group destroyed more than 3,000 commercially grown banana plants at midnight on Monday, causing an estimated loss of Rs 1.5 million (€11.700).
