Cooled logistics with efficient multi-chamber thermal vehicles

The trend towards bundling products whilst supplying large buyers in the food sector is not to be overlooked. Multitemp refrigerated vehicles are the economically viable solution for this.

"The one-stop supply of major food buyers - gastronomy, canteens, food retailers, petrol stations, bakeries - with product ranges in different temperature ranges can save many kilometers of transportation and thus costs," says Joachim Kress, Managing Director of the North Baden refrigerated vehicle specialist KRESS. "However, the refrigerated vehicles must be equipped accordingly."

What does the perfet refrigerated truck need for efficient temperature-controlled delivery of food? Basically, it is important that the ordered goods arrive in perfect condition, hygienically and on time. An efficient refrigerated vehicle is therefore very much integrated into the logistics processes.

This is particularly true if the economic logistics principle is "one order, one delivery, one invoice." This is because the efficient thermal or refrigerated vehicle is also included in the logistics IT systems. Safety is one of the key words here: KRESS refrigerated vehicles can handle almost all options.

Usually, there are five different temperature ranges in food logistics:
  • Frozen area: -18 ° C and colder - Frozen (frozen) goods such as ice cream, frozen ready meals, frozen vegetables, frozen fish, meat and bakery products
  • Ultra-fresh range: 0 ° to + 4 ° C - Fresh milk, soft cheese and sausage products, salads, also prepared salads, poultry, raw pasta products, convenience products depending on the manufacturing stage
  • Freshness range: +4 ° to +7 ° C - Cheese, smoked products, ham, some fruits and vegetables
  • Ambient range: +14 ° to +21 ° C - Chocolate, Sweets, Coffee, Red and White Wines, Drinks in General,
  • Dry cargo range: above 0 ° C - Preserves, pasta, nuts, flour, sugar, legumes, rice and non-food products

As a rule, refrigerated vehicles with two or three temperature ranges (3-chamber solution) are used. Four ranges are possible as well. The temperature ranges are to be flexibly adapted to the respective current cargo volume from the loading space size.

KRESS offers several built-in systems for multi-chamber solutions
KRESS offers built-in systems that allows for -fixed or flexible- longitudinal and transverse distribution of the refrigerated box. Completely individual solutions tailored to the specific application of the refrigerated vehicle are not uncommon at KRESS.

This is because the gains for the customer are crucial here as well. Therefore, qualified advice from and close cooperation with the KRESS specialist consultants is really expedient with regards to a refrigerated vehicle investment with a good return.

The KRESS Thermo-Construction CoolerBox2.0 already includes these important advantages in the basic configuration:

  • Reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions-The aerodynamic design with very good Cw values and the weight advantage of the thermo-construction ensure significantly lower fuel consumption.
  • The lower weight of the cooling structure benefits the payload.- The CoolerBox2.0 is one of the lightest thermo-abutments on the market. And thanks to the DUROLITE panel technology, the DUOFLEX door seal profiles and the stainless steel portal frame, they are insulating, robust and durable. They often outlast the life span of the vehicle itself. It will hten simply be mounted onto the next chassis.
  • The CoolerBox2.0 complies with the food hygiene regulations. Certified ATP and HACCP. Also after GDP. Antifungal joint seals. Easy cleaning, impeccable hygiene.
  • The CoolerBox2.0 refrigerated bodies are developed, specified, manufactured and delivered at the KRESS plant in Meckesheim near Heidelberg. They have been traveling on Europe's roads for more than 5 years. Mounted on base vehicles of all major commercial vehicle manufacturers. Including refrigerated vehicles with electric drive and low-noise equipment.

Always a good trip - KRESS supports the Sinsheimer Tafel eV
As one of the sponsors, refrigerated vehicle specialist KRESS is supporting Sinheimer Tafel e.V. on the acquisition of a functional modern refrigerated transporter. In the aerodynamic van body CoolerBox2.0, the Sinsheimer Tafel can transport food properly and professionally.
