Direct importer launches unique varieties into the trade sector

Germany: Thai organic mangoes popular with top gastronomers

Fibre-free Thai mangoes of organic quality - that is the motto of Kipepeo bio & fair GmbH from Neuffen. The direct importer, involved in fresh fruit projects in Thailand and East Africa, serves German organic wholesalers all year round with tropical, ripe, freshly harvested exotics and is particularly committed to fair trade and the welfare of small farmers. Now, from April to the end of May/early June, the long-awaited but short season of Thai organic mangoes is set to begin. There are very different varieties coming out in the course of about eight weeks, but they always have a unique, outstanding taste.

Vitamin-rich varieties
From the classic Nam Dok Mai with the longest season, to the big Mango Red and the Mango Pi Kun Tong, the Mango Jumbo lives up to its name, as despite its size (up to 900g in weight) it is fibre-free and highly flavor-intensive. In addition to this there is the locally popular Mango Maha, a slightly inconspicuous but equally delicate variant of the Nam Dok Mai.

In addition to their taste, these mangoes are very important for a healthy diet as well. In addition to the ‘common’ vitamins, we should also mention the most rare and valuable ones, such as luteocanthin and violoaxanthin, which strengthen the nervous system. In Asia, these mango varieties are highly valued for their easy digestibility and their immune-strengthening effects. Even in the medical field they are used, for convalescence.

The high vitamin C content, combined with a high calcium content, strengthens the capillaries. The considerable iron content acts as a blood producer. Particularly noteworthy are the record levels of vitamin A, but vitamins B3, B5, B6 and E are abundant as well. From fighting free radicals to stimulating the metabolism; these vitamins are helpful.

Weekly import
The fruits are freshly imported once a week and can be picked up in Frankfurt or delivered to customers on request, if so desired always in combination with other fruits from Kipepeo. “In addition to enthusiastic private consumers, these exclusive organic mangos -as rarities- are of course very popular in with top gastronomers as well, and in organic hotels and at banquets. The fruits of course have their price, but the consumer receives a very special product which is available only for a limited time every year and comes through a select distribution channel,” says CEO Markus Buban.
