Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Organic acreage has grown by 7,266 hectares

The organically cultivated agricultural acreage in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern grew in 2017 by 7,266 hectares to a total of 139,469 hectares. Over the past three years, organic acreage has increased by more than 20,000 hectares.

This was reported in a statement given by the Minister for Agriculture and Environment, Dr. Till Backhaus, this week at a gathering with representatives of organic farming associations. "This means the eco-share of agricultural land in the county is 10.4 percent, which is very high compared to the national average of 8.2 percent," said the minister.
