The FSBI Medical Veterinary Clinic of Krasnodar have confirmed the presence and vitality of the pest in the batch of tomatoes. The press service of the surveillance reported the fact. “Import of an infected batch of quarantinable products was prohibited with the view of protecting the plants and the territory of the Russian Federation from entering and spreading of quarantine objects”, announced the speaker of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance. They also added that South American tomato moth could destroy tomato crops in the greenhouses and in the field as well as harm potatoes, eggplants and bell peppers.
