When Italy and Spain collaborate

Psb Produccion Vegetal is a Spanish company set up over 25 years ago by the Buffat family with the main objective of growing stone fruit (apricots, nectarines and peaches).

"We've had to face various difficulties to grow varieties that actually proved unsuitable for the local climate, characterised by warmish winters and dry torrid summers. For this reason, twenty years ago we started to create our own varieties."

"The success of the varieties led us to develop an entire range to cover the period between April and September. We look for good colour, yields and shelf-life with particular attention towards organoleptic quality. We are also specialising in the search of varieties tolerant to some of the main and most dangerous diseases and pathogens. So far, we have developed around 120 varieties patented and protected on a global level."

After taking part in Macfrut for the first time in 2016, PSB decided to repeat the experience despite the fact that May is a busy month due to harvesting operations, varietal selection and commercial visits.

"We believe the fair is perfect to meet our Italian customers, as Italy is one of the leading producers and consumers of stone fruit worldwide. Over the past few years, our company has strengthened its role on the Italian territory. In addition to supplying a wide range of stone fruit, we put our experience at the service of producers to support them in the best of ways."

"At Mafrut, we will present the latest patented varieties:
  • Copacabana, extra-early yellow nectarine;
  • Diamentina, white sub-acidic nectarine with a good texture;
  • Patagonia, with a beautiful shape and colour.
As for apricots, we will present the brand-new Mikado variety, which is very early and self-compatible, as well as Colorado and Rambo. The new "Red Premium" apricot range will be represented by Totem. There will also be other peaches (yellow Pompadour and white Amandina varieties), percoca peaches (Fidji) and Saturn peaches."
