UPM opens Dutch Center for quality control in Mexico

United Producers of Mexico opens Dutch Center for Quality Control in Guanajuato, Mexico.

United Producers of Mexico (UPM) have been building a commercial bridge between the Netherlands and Mexico by implementing European import standards for agricultural products in Mexico. In order to build stronger and longlasting relationships between Dutch importers and Mexican exporters and growers organizations, several quality actions have been taken by UPM. Since May 2016, UPM has opened an office in Rotterdam, the Netherlands to stay in close contact with the Dutch importers.

The Dutch Center for Quality Control will be opened in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico. A Letter of Intent between the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Governor of the State of Guanajauto, Mexico, was signed on April 20th, 2018 in The Hague. The Dutch Center for Quality Control will work together with Mexican exporters and especially with producers´organizations to bring Dutch importers directly in contact with the growers.

During the week of April 16-21, Miguel Marquez Marquez, the Governor of Guanajuato, was in the Netherlands and a growers' delegation from this state visited Dutch importers. The growers'group has several thousands of hectares with more than 20 different vegetables and fruit crops, ranging from asparagus, berries, onions, broccolli among others. The group is interested in selling directly to Dutch importers through strategic alliances as well as contract farming.
