"China: "Standardized plantation management guarantees fruit quality"

"The living standards and purchasing power of consumers is growing, and they show more interest in high-quality fruit. As a result, the import volume of fruit is growing. Domestic fruit also benefits from new opportunities, but at the price of heavy competition. The Cidoko Fruit Company pursues standardized management to guarantee fruit quality and maintain a stable market share." This is according to Mr. Qin Wei of the Shanghai Cidoko Fruit Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Cidoko).

"We think that standardized plantation management is the way to overtake the market position of imported fruit. In addition, we need to improve the selection, grading, and packaging process. Foreign plantations have strict selection standards, and packaging is also a smooth operation. The labels of large, foreign fruit brands include a QR-code that consumers can scan to learn more about the origin of the fruit, date of harvest, etc."

"Cidoko has plantations throughout the country. We own 75% of these plantations, and the remaining 25% belongs to cooperations. We grow and sell many fruit varieties, such as apples, mangoes, and honey melons. We currently sell our products online and offline under our own label 'Cidoko Fruit'. The fruit is sold throughout the country in large scale wholesale markets in first and second tier cities, as well as through such large-scale supermarkets chains and high-end fruit shops as Pagoda, Greenleaf, RT-Mart, Auchan, and Fresh Hema. We primarily package fruit in small-scale, exquisite boxes, but we also have larger boxes for high-end fruit stores."

"In the future, we hope to upgrade our services and open up new markets to further satisfy consumer demand. To achieve this goal we will increase the proportion of our own plantations to 90%, so we can control quality from the source. Apart from this, we also seek cooperation with high-end community stores throughout the country to provide consumers with a better offline shopping experience. Finally, we hope to start exporting when the time is right."
