Guatemala: Rambutan season shows remarkable growth

The rambutan season will start at the beginning of May and will be at full capacity until the end of August. The main market for this fruit is the United States, where 90% of the production goes.

Meanwhile, the season looks very promising for the achacha. The main market for this fruit is Europe, especially Hamburg in Germany, London in the United Kingdom, Holland, and Spain, although it is also exported to Canada.

Edilson Hernandez, from the Prime Tropics company, said they feel happy that there are good expectations for both fruits and that they have a high demand for these products. "Our goal now is to increase the presence of rambutan in the European markets," he said.

Hernandez said that the company made a great effort to select the best varieties to present a high quality product to their customers. In fact, he said, their products had Global GAP certification.

In addition, Prime Tropics is committed to the movement to include women in the labor market. "95% of the people working in our packing plant are women. We have also been working to improve our environmental conditions for several years, we even have an annual reforestation program," Edilson said.
