Taiwan continues to strengthen avocado and potato production in Honduras
The government of China in Taiwan is continuing to strengthen the production of avocado and potato in Honduras after having strategic meetings with authorities of the Honduran Government.
The Undersecretary of Agriculture, Mauricio Guevara, met with technicians of the Taiwan Cooperation to identify work strategies to develop the second phase of the projects of avocado and healthy potatoes in the country.
The first phase of the potato and avocado projects were financed by Taiwan and are being executed by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), through the Directorate of Agricultural Science and Technology (Dicta), located in Santa Catarina Station, in the Esperanza, Intibuca department.
"We expect to strengthen avocado crops in the department of Ocotepeque to expand the areas devoted to avocado production and strengthen the association of producers," said the Undersecretary of Agriculture.
Antonio Romero, a facilitator of the SAG PRONAGRO Avocado Chain, said that there were 118 hectares devoted to this crop in Ocotepeque.
