Christiaan van Ravenswaaij: season overlaps with Peru this year

“Airfreight mangoes from Ivory Coast are at their best now”

Importer Van Ravenswaaij from Veenendaal, the Netherlands, has been working on the mango season from Ivory Coast for a while now. This month the season started two weeks earlier than last year. “Later this week we expect the first proper volumes of Kent mangoes from Ivory Coast,” Christiaan van Ravenswaaij says. “The airfreight mangoes are now at their best, and flavour and quality are truly excellent.”

The market situation of the mangoes couldn’t be different from last year’s. “The Peruvian season overlaps with the Ivory Coast season this year, and that wasn’t the case last year. The Peruvian season is now reaching its end. The price of mangoes from Ivory Coast is developing favourably compared to Peru, and once again, quality is good,” Christiaan concludes.
