Video: Growing cucumbers in South Africa

Are you in the mood to feel good? The South African retailer Shoprite took a peek in the Tshwaraganang greenhouse and had grower Edwin Mabotsa tell how horticulture changed his community. The video that has been made about it is touching.

Edwin Mabotsa lives in Windsorton, a region that becomes very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. Mining used to be an important way of earning a living for its residents but this fell quiet. Now many people are unemployed and Edwin had the idea of starting a hydroponic farm. With funding he started one of the first hydroponic farms in South Africa and currently English cucumbers are being grown there and supplied to retailer Shoprite.
